Kalku Currency Converter — iOS and Android
Who we are
Kalku Currency Converter is published by Kode Yazılım ve Danışmanlık Ltd. Şti. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how to stop it. It covers the iOS and Android apps and their home-screen widgets.
What stays on your device
Most of what Kalku holds never leaves your phone. It is stored in the app's local database and is deleted when you delete the app:
- The currencies you track and the order you put them in
- Currencies you create yourself, including their names and rates
- Manual rate overrides and per-currency source choices
- Your portfolio positions and Real Cost purchases
- Your conversion history
- Every amount and expression you type into the calculator
We have no account system and no cloud sync, so there is nowhere for this data to go. We cannot read it, and we cannot recover it for you if you lose your device.
What the app collects
Anonymous usage and crash data (Firebase)
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to find crashes. This is tied to a randomly generated app-instance identifier, not to you personally.

Requests to our rate service
Exchange rates come from our own service. When the app fetches rates it sends a normal web request, which necessarily includes your IP address. We use it to rate-limit abuse and do not build a profile from it.
Both apps also send a platform-issued attestation token (Apple App Attest or Google Play Integrity) so the service can verify the request came from a genuine copy of the app rather than a script. These tokens identify the app installation, not you.
Kalku Pro redemption codes
If you redeem a Kalku Pro code, the app sends the code together with an opaque installation identifier we generate. We store that identifier alongside the grant so the same code cannot be redeemed endlessly on new devices. It is a random value, is not derived from your device's hardware identifiers, and is not linked to anything else about you. This is required for the redemption feature to work and is not covered by the analytics opt-out below.
Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are handled entirely by Apple and Google. We never see your payment details.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address
- The amounts you enter, the expressions you calculate, or the rates you override
- The names of currencies you create
- Your contacts, photos, files, or precise location
- Advertising identifiers — the app ships without the code that could read one
There is no advertising in Kalku. We do not sell or share your data with data brokers, and nothing collected is used for tracking across other companies' apps or websites, as Apple defines that term. The app never shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt because it has nothing to ask for.
Turning it off
Open Settings in the app and switch off "Share anonymous usage data". It is on by default. Turning it off stops both analytics and crash reporting, on that device, from that moment.
Redemption and attestation are not covered by this switch: they are required for those features to function at all. If you never redeem a code, no installation identifier is ever sent.
How long it is kept
Analytics and crash data are held by Google Firebase under their standard retention periods for our project, after which they are deleted automatically. Redemption records are kept for as long as the grant is valid, so the entitlement can be re-verified.

Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold, to object to processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority.
- To stop future collection: use the Settings switch described above
- To delete everything held on your device: delete the app
- For anything else, including deletion of a redemption record: contact us
Children
Kalku is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date at the top. The privacy labels on the App Store and Google Play are kept in step with it.
